Create a Membership Plan

How to Create an Annual or Monthly Membership Plan

  • When logged into your cinema dashboard, visit Memberships > Add New๏ปฟ
  • In the Add title field, type in the name of your Membership Plan [Required]
  • In the Content area, type in all the details about this membership. We recommend you list all benefits, including the ones you may fulfill manually, such as merchandise, private members screenings, etc. This content will be displayed on the Sign Up page for this membership plan, above the signup form.

  • Annual
    : Choose "Annual" for a yearly membership that will give your customer the option for a manual renewal by credit card at the end of the term.
  • Monthly
    : Choose "Monthly" for a membership billed monthly via auto-pay to their credit card.

Benefits Summary

The space to concisely list all the top features that come with a membership. Benefits in this box will be displayed on the Memberships Listing Page (more on that in the next sections).

NOTE: We recommend this page to be listed in a bulleted format.

Reported Cost

[Optional] The cost that will appear in the distributor reports when a ticket is discounted using the membership. If this field is not entered, the reported price will default to report the discounted price of the ticket. .

Plan cost

Annual

  • Annual plan cost [Required for Annual Plans]: The price your member will pay for their annual membership.
  • Dual annual plan cost [Optional]: This is the cost for a membership that can be shared by two members, with double the allowed limits on tickets and products (if limits are set). Intended for couples.

Monthly

  • Monthly plan cost [Required for Monthly Plans]: The price your member will be billed monthly via their credit card plus any optional Service Fee, see below).
  • Dual monthly plan cost [Optional]: This is the cost for a membership that can be shared by two members, with double the allowed limits on tickets and products (if limits are set). Intended for couples.
  • Service Fee [Optional]: You can add a service fee to the monthly membership price, which will display as another line item at checkout and for subsequent monthly renewals. If your monthly memberships offer free tickets, adding this service fee may be helpful to to replace the online booking fees that would have been paid otherwise.

Collect birthdays?

Check this box if you want members to enter their birthday during sign-up.

NOTE: Even if you check the box, providing the birthday remains optional for members.

Make birthdays required?

Check this box if you want members to be required to enter their birthday when signing up. NOTE: This option only appears if Collect birthdays? is checked.

Collect member mailing addresses when they are purchased as a gift?

Check this box if you want customers purchasing gift memberships to enter the recipient's mailing address at checkout.

Make member mailing addresses required for gift purchases?

Check this box if you want customers purchasing gift memberships to be required to enter the recipient's mailing address at checkout. NOTE: This option only appears if Collect member mailing addresses when they are purchased as a gift? is checked.

Interests label

The interest label is a custom question you can ask your members when they sign up. Things like, "What types of events are you interested in?" You'll add the options they can choose from in the "Interests" section on your cinema dashboard, under Memberships. It can alternatively be used for any multiple-choice question that can have more than one answer.

The Interest options linked to your Interests question will be shown here. Choose the options you want to appear on your sign-up page or choose "Select All" to include all options.

NOTE: You can always come back and add/change/delete displayed interests.

How did you hear about us label

This is a custom question that allows you to get information from your new members on where they had heard about your cinema and membership plan. If left blank, the question will be "How did you hear about us?". It can alternatively be used for any multiple-choice question that can have a single answer.

New members can select these options to answer the "How did you hear about us?" question. You can add or edit the possible responses to this question in Memberships > Sources.

Terms of Service

Provide the terms of service that the customer must agree to on the signup form. The text should be brief; it displays next to a checkbox on the signup form. The field can accept HTML if you want to link out to a longer description of your terms.

Confirmation message

Enter a message to display to the customer after their purchase, as well as in their confirmation email.

Expiration reminder message [Annual Only]

[Optional] Enter a message that will be emailed to customers to remind them of their membership's upcoming expiration. This message will be followed by basic details like the membership's exact expiration date. You can leave it blank to avoid sending a reminder email. For more information about how to configure expiration reminder timing, read our Membership Renewal article๏ปฟ.

NOTE: Monthly memberships do not receive an expiration reminder message as their plan renews automatically each month. They will receive an email confirming their auto-renew every month. They can cancel at any time.

Membership Plan Rules: Tickets

This table presents the different settings for establishing rules related to ticket sales for this specific membership plan.

Discount Type

Choose between two options:

  • Amount off per ticket: Enter a dollar amount in the box to reduce the cost of each ticket.
  • Discount % off per ticket: Enter a percentage amount in the box to decrease the cost of each ticket.

Amount off / Discount off per ticket

Once you've chosen your Discount Type, enter the specified dollar amount or percentage into the provided box.

Minimum ticket price

[Optional] Enter a price to prevent tickets from being discounted below this value.

Minimum ticket quantity required in the order

[Optional] The minimum number of tickets that must be included in a single order

Discounted tickets allowed per code

[Optional] The number of discounted tickets permitted for each member's unique membership code. This number will be reset when the membership is renewed (i.e. monthly or annually). Leave blank if there's no limit.

Discounted tickets allowed per showtime

The number of discounted tickets permitted for each showtime. This number will be reset when the membership is renewed (i.e. monthly or annually).

Maximum outstanding tickets allowed at once

[Optional] This sets the maximum number of discounted tickets a member can have at any time. Leave blank for no limit. Once a customer has reached this limit, they will need to wait for one of the showtimes they have tickets for to begin before they can buy more tickets.

Maximum showtimes allowed per date

[Optional] The maximum number of showtimes each day that can be discounted. Leave blank for no limit.

Does discount apply to the booking fee?

Check or uncheck the box to specify whether the applied discount also reduces the booking fee associated with the ticket purchase.

Eligible Ticket Types

[Optional] If the membership applies only to certain ticket types, choose those types from the dropdown menu. Leave it blank to include all ticket types.

Eligible Showtimes

[Optional] If the membership applies only to specific showtimes only, choose those types from the dropdown menu. Leave it blank to include all showtimes.

Ineligible Showtimes

If the membership excludes specific showtimes, choose those types from the dropdown menu. Leave it blank to include all showtimes.

Membership Plan Rules: Products

This table presents the different settings for establishing rules related to product purchases, such as concessions, for this specific membership plan.

Additional Promotions

[Optional] Select promotions to include additional benefits for members who purchase this plan. Members will be able to choose between the Membership Plan discount or any additional promotion discounts when they purchase tickets on the web or at the box office.

Banned Customers (Monthly Only)

Ban customers from repurchasing after cancelling for: [number] months

[Optional] To prevent customers from repeatedly signing up for monthly memberships to only see films for a short period of time and then canceling, you can set how many months a customer will be banned from signing up for a particular monthly membership plan again after theyโ€™ve cancelled their current membership. For instance, if you set this field to 6 months and a member cancels their membership, they won't be able to buy the same membership plan again for 6 months. The ban period only applies to the specific membership plan they cancelled; they will be able to purchase other membership plans.

When a customer is banned, both their email address and credit card fingerprint will be added to the banned list to prevent them from circumventing the ban.

If any customers are currently banned, they will appear in a list below the field, along with their scheduled unban time. You can Unban anyone in the list by pressing the Unban button.

Publish Your Membership Plan

Now that you've created your membership plan, press the Publish button to make it official.

Here are the different statuses you can use with your membership plans:

Save Draft

Pressing Save Draft will save this page. It will not publish and activate the membership plan.

Status

  • Published: This will display if the membership plan has been published.
  • Pending Review: The draft is waiting for review prior to publication. It has not been published and remains a draft for review.
  • Draft: A membership plan can be set to Draft to stop selling memberships of this plan. When set to Draft status, current members of this plan will not be able to use their benefits at checkout.

Visibility

  • Public: The page will be visible to everyone.
  • Password Protected: The page is protected with a password you set. Only people who have the password can view a protected page
  • Private: If this membership plan is only for sale by staff members entering manual payments, select this option. Only logged-in users will be able to access this membership plan sign-up form. This can be useful to issue comped memberships, as well as when phasing out a prior membership plan when you want to leave existing members on the plan. (Note that members will not receive expiration reminders or be able to renew when a membership plan is set to Private.)๏ปฟ

Publish Immediately

  • Publish immediately:
  • Schedule for a future date: Enter a date for future publishing of this membership plan. The selected date indicates when the membership plan will become active on your website.

Move to Trash

To delete the Membership Plan, use the Move to Trash link.

Changing Membership Settings

Admins can make several changes to a membership plan once it is published.

Changes you can make to a membership anytime:

  • Name
  • Description & benefits
  • Terms of Service, Confirmation Message, Expiration Reminder
  • Discount rules

Changes you cannot make to a membership once it has been published:

  • Changing the Membership Term from annual to monthly or vice versa

Changes you cannot make to a membership once they have any active members:

  • Costs (Monthly Only)
  • No membership plans can be moved to the trash if they have active members.
