Create and use ticket types & ticket type groups

Ticket Types provide ticket choices for customers to select from when making their purchase to attend a show. Ticket Types can reflect different prices based on a customer's age (Adult, Child, Senior) or occupation (Veterans, Students), as well as the type of show (Matinee, Weekend, Special Event).

How to create a new ticket type

  • Go to Scheduler > Ticket Types > Add New
  • Ticket Type Details:
    • Available on stations: Enable the Ticket Type to be sold through your Website, Box Office Stations or both. (Quick tip: It can be helpful to create a $0 "Comp" ticket that is only enabled for your Box Office Stations, so your team can issue in-person comp tickets)
    • Type:
      • Base: For regular screenings where the full ticket price should be reported to the distributor, select Base.
      • Special: For shows where a premium experience is being provided in addition to the screening, which results in a higher-priced Ticket Type (i.e. Dinner & A Movie), select Special in order to choose a Base Ticket Type which will be reported as the sold ticket type to the distributor in Comscore reporting and the Distributor version of the Box Office Report.
    • Price: This is the price being charged to the customer per ticket.
    • Seat Limit (optional): The maximum number of tickets that can be sold of this Ticket Type per showtime. If left blank, this Ticket Type can be purchased for any reserved seatmap or general admission assigned until those seats are sold out.
    • Order (optional): When there are multiple ticket types available for a reserved seat or general admission screening, they are displayed according to the following default order on the checkout webpage and in-person box office app.
      1. Order (optional): Setting the lowest number will display a Ticket Type first (i.e. 0, 1, 2, etc.)
      2. Price: Most expensive will display first
      3. Alphabetical: If Ticket Types are the same price, they will be ordered alphabetically
    • Reserved Seatmap Assignments (optional): Enable ticket types to be compatible with specific seating areas or your entire seatmaps by selecting the relevant areas. For new sections to be added as potential reserved seat map assignments, please share your request with support@filmbot.com so we can update those options for you. (For general admission seating, any ticket type assigned to a showtime in the Scheduler for an auditorium with general admission seating with be eligible for sale.)

To assign a Ticket Type to a showtime so that it can be purchased by your customers, you can select the Ticket Type from the "Ticket Types" dropdown in the "Add new showtime" popup.

Note: There is a limit of 100 Ticket Types per cinema - if you have a large number of ticket types, please remove older types that are no longer in use.

Use Ticket Type Groups for faster scheduling of showtimes

Ticket types can be added to Ticket Type Groups in order to assign a group of ticket types more quickly to a showtime in the Scheduler, rather than assigning each ticket type individually.

To create a Ticket Type Group:

  • Go to Scheduler > Ticket Type Groups
  • Enter the Name for the Ticket Type Group (the Slug will then populate automatically; Description is not necessary)
  • Select "Add New Ticket Type Group"

To add a ticket type to a Ticket Type Group:

  • In the Ticket Type Details editor, search the Ticket Type Groups field on the right-hand side for the relevant Ticket Type Group and select it. Then select Update.

To add multiple ticket types to a Ticket Type Group:

  • Go to Scheduler > Ticket Types > Check the checkboxes for the relevant showtimes
  • Select Edit from the Bulk Actions dropdown > Apply
  • Type in the name of the Ticket Type Group in the Ticket Type Groups field on the right side > Update

To assign a Ticket Type Group to a showtime so that all the ticket types within that group can be made available for that showtime, you can select the Ticket Type Group from the "Ticket Types Group" dropdown in the "Add new showtime" popup. Once the individual Ticket Types within that group have been assigned to the showtime, the Ticket Types will continue to display in that showtime popup when it is opened again, however the Ticket Type Group name will no longer display.

After initially assigning a Ticket Type Group to a showtime in the Scheduler, individual Ticket Types can be added or removed from the Ticket Types field.

How Ticket Types discounted with memberships or promotions are reported to distributors

Ticket Types discounted with memberships will be reported to the distributor as "[The Ticket Type name] - [Membership Plan]" i.e. "Adult - Mogul Membership."

Ticket Types discounted with promotions will be reported to the distributor as "[The Ticket Type name] - [Promotion Name]" i.e. "Adult - 10% Off." If there is a Reported Ticket Type name entered in the Promotion Details, this Reported Ticket Type will replace the "[The Ticket Type name] - [Promotion Name]" for the ticket type that is reporting to distributors and Comscore, i.e. "Loyalty Rewards."
