Create Campaigns
The Campaign feature enables you to configure emails that are sent automatically sent to a set of customers either:
- Sends daily, based on their last visit date. (Daily Campaigns are sent at 11am every day)
- Sends once, based on their ticket purchase history
- Sends once, to a list of email addresses you provide
A campaign email will include an auto-generated code for a Promotion you have set up, so first you need to create the Promotion you'd like to use.
See Create Promotions for full instructions on how to configure a Promotion, and be sure to:
- Skip Create promo code by name: This will not be used for Campaigns, since Promotions sent on behalf of Campaigns email each recipient their own unique promo code.
Go to Promotions > Campaigns > Add New, and fill out the following fields:
- Sends daily based on customer's last visit After selecting this type, you'll be able to specify how many days after a customer's last visit they will be sent a code. You'll also be able to specify which ticket types they would have needed to purchase in order to be eligible to receive the code. Any qualifying ticket type in their order will make them eligible.
- Sends once based on customer's purchase history
- Sends once, to a list of email addresses
Please note: we recommend always saving your Campaign and then sending yourself a test, before sending it to any customers.
If Sends daily based on customer's last visit is selected:
Days since last visit: Required This setting will deliver the promotion to every customer x days after their last visit. For example, if you set this to 1 day: The promotion will be emailed to eligible customers the day after their visit. If you set this to a longer period, such as 180 days, every day the promotion will be emailed to customers whose last visit was 180 days ago.
Eligible ticket types at last visit: Optional If you'd like to limit the customers who are eligible to receive the campaign, you can deliver promotions to a subset of customers who purchased a particular ticket type, by entering the name of the eligible ticket types in this field (separated by line breaks). For example, if you use a separate ticket type for matinee vs. evening showtimes, and you only want to deliver the campaign to those who purchased an evening ticket, enter the name of your evening ticket type.
Additionally, since discounted tickets have the name of the applied discount (i.e. the Membership Plan, or other Promotion) in the ticket type name, you can exclude customers who purchased a discounted ticket by only entering the non-discounted ticket type title in the field. I.E. if you have a Membership Plan called "Family", and a ticket type called "Evening", evening tickets purchased using that membership discount will be called "Evening - Family". As long as the "Evening - Family" ticket type is not in the field (as long as you have some other ticket types in the field -- see note below), then customers who purchased those member discounted tickets will not be sent the campaign. If you do want members to be sent the discount code, you would need to enter "Evening - Family" into the eligible ticket types field, or leave it blank (see note below). Note, if you do not fill out the "Eligible ticket types at last visit" field, all customers who match the "Days since last visit" setting will be included. A maximum of 2,000 emails can be sent per day with this Campaign type.
Reminder Email: Optional This setting will send a reminder email to the recipients of this campaign. Enter the number of days before the promotion codes expire when you want the reminder to be sent, or leave it blank to send no reminder email. The content of the reminder email will be the same as the original campaign email but with a different Subject line, "Reminder: x days to use your promo code!"
You can cancel upcoming reminders by clearing this field and clicking Publish.
Note that changing this setting to a new number will not affect the timing of reminder emails for codes that were already sent.
If Sends once based on customer's purchase history is selected:
Tickets Purchased: Required This setting will deliver the promotion to every customer who purchased tickets to the Shows you select. Note that the count of customers displayed includes the total number of customers who purchased tickets to those shows, and may include some who purchased tickets at the box office and did not provide an email address. The actual number of emails sent could be lower.
Send Date: Required Choose the date and time when you'd like the email to be sent. The date must be set in the future, or else it will not be saved.
Note that if a one-time campaign is scheduled and sent out, and then the Tickets Purchased field is edited and the campaign is scheduled to be sent again, it will not be delivered to customers who already received it. For this reason, we recommend always creating a new campaign if you are offering a new promotion or promoting a new show, unless you are simply broadening the customer selection for an existing campaign. Also note that if more than 2,000 customers are selected, then they will be emailed in batches of 2,000 each, every 30 minutes.
If Sends once to a list of email addresses is selected:
Email Addresses: Required Once you have filled out the email subject and content for a campaign, you can paste in a list of recipients to this field (one email address per line), and send your campaign, using the Send Now button. Note that this campaign type sends immediately and cannot be scheduled. Duplicate addresses entered in the same list will result in only one email being sent to that address, but you can send multiple times to the same address, by sending in separate batches. You can enter a maximum of 2,000 emails per send. Note you must save your campaign content before sending it to any customers. The last saved version will be what's sent, regardless of what you have entered (Send Test has the same behavior, so check your email using that feature first).
Send Test: Optional, but strongly recommended
Once you have filled out the email subject and content for a campaign, you can send a test email to a set of email addresses (separated by commas), in order to see how it looks before publishing it.
Email Subject: Required See picture below. The subject of the Campaign email
Email Headline: Required See picture below. The introduction or first line inside the Campaign email
Email Content: Required See picture below. The body of the campaign email.
Campaign Terms: Optional Clarify for the customer which ticket types and/or showtimes are eligible, how long until the code expires, and that tickets purchased with the promo code cannot be exchanged for other tickets. The expiration date will automatically display. See picture below.
Primary CTA Button Text and Primary CTA Button URL: Optional See picture below. We recommend linking to your home page where your movies playing now are showcased. If either of these fields are left blank, the button will not appear in the email.
Secondary CTA Button Text and Secondary CTA Button URL: Optional See picture below. We recommend linking to your coming soon page where upcoming movies are showcased. If either of these fields are left blank, the button will not appear in the email.
Enable "Now Playing" Section in Email: Optional Check this box to auto-populate the Now Playing section in the email with movies currently playing at your cinema that are eligible for the promotion discount. The system will automatically exclude Now Playing movies that are not eligible for the discount. See picture below.
Enable "Coming Soon" Section in Email: Optional Check this box to auto-populate the Coming Soon section in the email with movies that have a Start Date in the future. Since showtimes and ticket types may not yet have been assigned to the Coming Soon email, no movies will be automatically excluded from this section.
Mobile view of Campaign Promotion for recipients:

On the Campaign editor page, scroll down to Campaign Usage to see the following information:
- Total codes sent
- Total codes used
Since all promotion codes expire after being sent, please be aware that data for total codes used will lag behind total codes sent.
On the Promotion editor page, scroll down to Promotion Usage report:
- Total amount discounted
- Total tickets discounted
On the Campaign editor, in the right sidebar, under Event History, the last 10 send events are listed. You can click on any event there, scroll down to Details, click on the data to expand it, and then click on "emails" to expand it and see a list of the recipients.
All generated codes will be listed under Promotions > Codes, where you can search by email address or code. You can also click on the name of your Promotion in the Promotion column to filter the list for only codes attached to that promotion. You can also click on the column headings to sort the list.
Simply un-publish the associated Campaign and no further promotion codes will be sent out on behalf of the Campaign. Do not delete or unpublish the promotion, unless you want to invalidate all outstanding codes.
