Sell Ticket Packs

Ticket Packs can be used to sell customers a discount code, which they can use to redeem tickets on your website or at your onsite box office. It's useful for selling a preset number of tickets at a discount, or for creating festival passes. When a customer purchases a ticket pack, they will receive an email with a randomly generated discount code. This code can be entered at your website checkout or in the box office app to receive 100% off the tickets in their purchase, up to an optional limit that you set when creating your ticket pack offer.

Note, we charge a percentage fee on the sale of each ticket pack purchased with a credit card. This fee is not passed on to your customers, so please factor that in when pricing your Ticket Pack Offers.

Please contact us if you'd like to have this feature enabled on your site. Once it's been enabled, follow these steps to set up your ticket packs:

How to create a Ticket Pack Offer

  1. Log into your website dashboard and navigate to Ticket Packs > Offers > Add New
  2. Set a title for the ticket pack offer. Examples: "6-pack" or "All-Access Pass"
  3. In the main content area, enter a description for the ticket pack. Here's where you can describe the details of the ticket pack, including any selling points, and the benefits that the patron will receive.
  4. Under the Ticket Pack Offer details, fill out the following fields:
    • Cost: the cost of the ticket pack offer. The customer will pay this amount up front.
    • Ticket Pack Terms: Enter any terms of purchase that you want the customer to agree to before purchasing. It's best to include any limitations on the ticket packs here. For example: "I understand that ticket pack discount codes can only be used for regular general admission screenings. Special screenings are excluded. No refunds."
    • Confirmation Message: Enter the confirmation message that will be displayed to the customer after their purchase, on both the Thank you page, and in their email confirmation. For example, "You may redeem your ticket pack code by applying it online during web checkout or providing at the box office."
    • Reported Price: Enter the ticket cost that will appear in the distributor reports when a ticket is discounted using the ticket pack.
  5. Under the Ticket Pack Rules, fill out the following fields:
    • Discounted tickets allowed per ticket pack code: Enter the number of tickets that the customer can redeem their ticket pack discount code for. If you're selling an unlimited pass, you can leave this field blank.
    • Discounted tickets allowed per showtime: If you want to limit the number of tickets that can be purchased per showtime with the ticket pack, enter that number here. We strongly recommend filling out this field if you are selling an unlimited pass. If you do not want to limit the number of tickets per showtime, you can leave this field blank.
    • Valid For: Optionally limit the number of days the ticket pack will be valid after purchase. Typically this should be left blank, unless you want to (for example), sell an All-Access pass that is good for 1 day after purchase. On the right sidebar of the editor, optionally attach:
  6. On the right sidebar of the editor, optionally attach:
    • Eligible Ticket Types: selecting items here will make the ticket pack only work for the selected ticket types
    • Eligible Showtimes: selecting items here will make the ticket pack only work on the selected showtimes
    • Ineligible Showtimes: selecting items here will allow the ticket pack discount to work for all showtimes except the selected items
    • Eligible Shows: Select items here to make a Promotion only eligible for specific Shows. Using this option is effectively the same as adding all of the showtimes for specific shows to the Eligible Showtimes field (any new showtimes created after this option is set will also be included as eligible automatically). Note: do not select both Eligible Showtimes and Ineligible Showtimes, as that can have unexpected results. Be sure to explicitly describe any exclusions in your ticket pack offer terms so patrons aren't surprised when their discount does not apply to items they purchase.
  7. Click Publish on your ticket pack, and then choose "View Ticket Pack Offer" to view how it appears on the frontend of your website. This is the link you can use to promote the ticket pack sales to your audience.

FAQ

Q. How can I sell ticket packs in person and/or with cash? A. Ticket packs cannot be sold via the box office. However, while logged into your site as an administrator, visit the ticket pack checkout page on the frontend of your website. You will see a dropdown menu underneath the credit card fields where you can choose "Cash" as a payment option (this option is only available to you while you are logged in, the general public cannot choose the Cash option). If the customer is paying by credit card, you can simply type in the card number and customer details to complete the order. Be sure to enter the customer's correct email address so they can receive their ticket pack discount code.

Q. How can I see what ticket packs have been purchased? A. Log into your website dashboard and navigate to Ticket Packs > Offers > Purchased. You can view and search the list of purchased ticket packs and see how many times they've been used.

Q. How many ticket pack offers can I create? A. There is no limit to how many ticket pack offers you can create. Feel free to create multiple levels at different price points and with different benefits.

Q. How can I apply a ticket pack discount to a customer's ticket purchase at the box office? A. Create the customer's order as usual, and then tap the "Apply Discount Code" checkbox. A search will come up where you can type in the customer's discount code or email address. Tap on their ticket pack in the search results to apply it to the order.

Q. Do my customers need to purchase all of the tickets allowed by their ticket pack discount at once? A. No, your customers can make as many separate orders as they'd like, and use the same discount code repeatedly on each one, until their benefits are used up.

Q. Can someone purchase a ticket pack and then share the code with other people? A. In order to prevent public sharing, when a ticket pack code is applied to an order, the email address on the order must match the email address that was used when the ticket pack was purchased.

Q.Festivals only: how can I collect mailing addresses and/or phone numbers from people purchasing ticket packs on my site? A. The ticket pack checkout pages respect the site-wide setting for whether you want to collect mailing addresses and telephone numbers on your checkout form. You can turn this on under Settings > Website > Checkout. You may want to do this if you need to send any benefits to the patron that aren't related to ticket discounts.
