Product Sales Tax

To create Sales Tax Categories, go to Products > Sales Tax Categories > Enter a Sales Tax Category > Set the Tax Rate percentage. Please note you do not need to add the percentage in the category name.

To add multiple concessions to a sales tax category, go to Products > Products > Check the checkbox beside the relevant concessions > Select Edit from Bulk Actions > Apply > Type in the specific sales tax category (i.e. Alcohol) > Update.

Please note that once concessions have been assigned to a sales tax category, you will need to edit each concession individually in order to change its sales tax category, which can be accomplished with hovering over the individual Product and selecting Quick Edit.

Once you assign sales tax categories to the products, edit each product by selecting Yes or No for whether the customer-facing price includes tax. If Yes, it will be incorporated into the price the customer is being charged. For example, if the price for a popcorn is $5.00 and the sales tax percentage is 7%, the customer will be charged $5.00 and the net sale will be $4.65 after the $0.35 sales tax is extracted. If No, the 7% sales tax will be added on top of the $5.00 product price, so that the customer will be charged $5.35 and the net sale will be $5.00 after the $0.35 sales tax is extracted.

The Products report can then display the appropriate gross and net sales across a date range for all Products sold. If any date is selected before May 31, the Products report will not include sales tax data.
