How to Configure Gift Up! Settings in Filmbot
The first step to getting started with a GiftUp / Filmbot integration is to set up an account at giftup.com. In addition, you may want to set up a separate Stripe account to manage gift card sales. Because we don't receive gift card revenue information from GiftUp, your Sales Summary may not fully reflect your Stripe payouts if you choose to connect both Filmbot and GiftUp to the same account.
Once you've got an account on Gift Up!, you'll need to link that account to your Filmbot website using the following steps:
- First navigate to Settings > Theater Setup > Sales in your Filmbot Dashboard.
- Scroll down to the Gift Cards section, and check the "Enable gift cards?" option.
- Set the "Gift Gateway" option to "Gift Up!"
- Click "Save Changes", but don't leave the page!
Let the page reload after step 4 above, then scroll back down to the Gift Cards section. You should see two new settings fields: "Gift Up! API Key", and "Enable Gift Up! test mode?"
In another window or tab, you'll need to grab your Gift Up! API key. Here's how:
- Scroll all the way down, to the very bottom of the page. The last item should be titled "Gift Up! REST API"
- Click the "API Keys" link on this item, which should bring you to your Gift Up! API Keys management page
- Create a new API Key here. Be sure to give it a descriptive name, and be sure to copy the entire API key
- Then go back to your Filmbot dashboard, and paste the entire API key in to that "Gift Up! API Key" settings field
- Click "Save Changes" on the Filmbot settings page, and you're ready to go!
Do you have existing gift cards you've previously distributed via another provider, and you want the value of each gift card to be transferred to Gift Up! for redemption with Filmbot? Gift Up! offers an import service where you can send their support team a CSV of the values of your existing gift cards, the codes on those gift cards, as well as other data like customer names and emails if available, and they will add them to your Gift Up! account so that customers can continue to use their same gift cards and codes with Filmbot.
You can enable or disable the Gift Up! test mode any time. When the test mode is enabled, you can create gift cards and place test orders with them without incurring any fees or using real payment data anywhere. If you enable test mode, just make sure to disable it before you are ready to accept real orders!
