Google search results

While Filmbot does not do SEO nor do we have access to your Google Business Account, there are still actions you can take to help your theater look best in Google search results.

Submit your Sitemap using Console

Search Console tools and reports help you measure your site's Search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your site shine in Google Search results. Sign up here and add your site. You can then submit your sitemap.

Your sitemap URL is https://yourtheatername.com/sitemap.xml

How to improve your Google presence

Meta Tags

Meta title and description tags are available for editing at the sitewide level in Settings > Website > General. Google will include the page or post title in the description by default, but you will likely want to add a description as well. These meta titles and description tags can be overridden on static pages and blog posts.

The content of these tags is structured as follows:

  • On the home page
    • Meta title tag contains: [Meta Title from Settings > Website > General]
    • Meta description tag contains: [Meta Description from Settings > Website > General]
  • On Pages, Blog Posts, Movies, Special Events, Programs and Special Showtimes:
    • Meta title tag contains: [Content title] - [Meta Title from Settings > Website > General]
    • Meta description tag contains: [Content title] - [Meta Title from Settings > Website > General]. [Meta Description from Settings > Website > General]

We feel it's important to differentiate the titles and descriptions on each page, but since so much content is time-based on movie theater sites, we automatically generate content-specific meta titles and descriptions.

Showtime links

We have an integration with Webedia, with whom we automatically share showtime information to be shared with Google, so that showtimes automatically display in Google Search which deep-link to your website's checkout pages.
