Change Membership Plan on Renewal

Annual memberships can be changed to a different plan upon renewal, including changing between individual and dual membership plans. For more information on membership renewals, please see the Membership Renewals article.

Renewal Settings

On any new or existing annual membership plan, you can select which plans are offered at renewal for the plan members. Select which annual plans you would like to offer via the Plans Offered at Renewal field and they will be included on the renewal page in the "Choose Your Plan" section. The Renewal page intro field can be used to promote upsells or explain if the current plan is being phased out (see FAQ below for how to phase out a membership plan).

How Customers Can Change Their Plan

  1. On the renewal page, the "Choose Your Plan" section will have multiple membership plan options available to the customer, if you have selected more than one plan in the Plans offered at renewal field for the member's current plan. The member's current plan will be pre-selected, and the option will appear with the text CURRENT PLAN. The member can choose a new plan by selecting the title of the plan in the list. To the right of the "Choose Your Plan" section is the "Benefits Summary" section, which lists associated benefits for the selected plan.
  2. After the customer fills the required fields, inputs their payment and purchases the plan, they will be enrolled in their new membership plan as soon as their current term ends.

Reporting

In your Memberships Report, the column Previous Plan shows the most recent plan for the member before renewal. This column will not appear if no members have changed their plan

Can members change their plan upon renewal in the Box Office app?

No, this feature is only available on the web.

Can monthly members change their plan upon renewal?

No, this feature is only available for annual memberships.

Can members change their plan from monthly to annual upon renewal?

No, you can only change between annual plans.

How can I phase out or retire a membership plan?

If the plan you would like to phase out isn't included in its own Plans offered at renewal field, the member will be unable to re-enroll in the plan upon renewal. You can offer alternative plans in its place, and we recommend using the Renewal page intro text to explain why their current plan is no longer available.
