Minimum Network Requirements
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi networks must support WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption and be password-protected. To use the printer and cash drawer on an all-Wi-Fi network, a Wi-Fi adapter will need to be purchased for the printer. IPV6-only networks are not compatible with our card reader.
Ethernet
Hardwired Ethernet can be used with the printer and cash drawer, and Ethernet adapters can be purchased for the Stripe Card Reader (the docking cradle) and the iPad. IPV6-only networks are not compatible with our card reader.
Networks with both Wi-Fi and Ethernet
In order to communicate successfully with each other, all Wi-Fi devices and Ethernet devices must be on the same network subnet, configured in your router.
Internet Service
Filmbot recommends the most reliable business-level internet connection available in your area. When selecting an internet plan, we recommend opting for fiber internet if available; if not, we recommend cable internet. DSL should only be considered if no other Internet options are available. If your area does not offer reliable internet service, we also recommend setting up backup internet, in case the primary internet connection goes down, such as 5G LTE or DSL. Filmbot is not responsible for lost onsite ticket sales or issues related to system downtime caused by internet connectivity deficiencies.
Router / Firewall Settings
In order for the Stripe Card Reader to communicate with the POS, you will need to be sure your router and/or firewall will allow communication on the following ports:
- TCP port 4443
- TCP port 443 (HTTPS)
- UDP port 53 (DNS)
In addition, please ensure that Stripe’s domains and IP addresses are allowed in your configuration. The current list can be found at https://docs.stripe.com/ips .
