In-person Box Office
Setup
Set up the Filmbot iPad Box Office
- 9.7” iPad or 12.9” iPad Pro
- BBPOS WisePOS E card reader (must be purchased from Stripe)
- Star Micronics mC-Print3 Thermal 3 Cutter Ethernet
- Star Micronics compatible cash drawer
- Heckler iPad enclosure
- 1-2 Ethernet cables
- Optional: Belkin Ethernet to Lightning or USB-C adapter
- Optional: Network switch
- LAN with both ethernet and WiFi
- LAN with ethernet access (if this is what's available at your venue, then you will need the 2 optional items at the end of the Hardware Checklist)
- Unbox the iPad and turn it on. During initial setup, opt out of setting a TouchID or Passcode (unless you want to require staff to use a device passcode), and don’t sign in to iCloud.
- If your venue has a compatible WiFi network (see Network Requirements above), connect to your WiFi network.
- Open the Settings app. Go to General Keyboard, and turn off Auto-Capitalization, Auto-Correction, Check Spelling and Smart Punctuation. Disabling these will improve searchability.
- Open the App Store and search for “Filmbot Box Office”. Tap install and sign into the App Store with your Apple ID.
- Optional (if doing an all-ethernet setup):
- Plug the iPad ethernet adapter to the power port on the iPad. Plug an ethernet cable from the ethernet adapter to the network switch. If you are using an ethernet adapter that came with a power adapter, plug the power adapter into the wall.
- Go to the iPad settings and turn off and make sure the ethernet option is there underneath Wi-Fi. Turn off Wi-Fi.
- Plug the USB-C charger into a power outlet and then the port on the bottom of the cradle. Using the indentation on the bottom left of the reader, take off the back panel of the reader and insert the battery, then snap the rear panel back on. Rest the reader in the cradle. Optionally, you can connect an Ethernet cable to the bottom of the cradle at this time.
- Hold down the power button on the right side of the reader to turn it on. If prompted, tap Connect to WiFi to select a WiFi network and enter your network password, then wait for the connection.
- The reader may prompt you to update - if so, tap Update to proceed. The updates may take some time.
- After the reader restarts, you will be prompted to select your preferred language and the appropriate country. After doing so, you will receive a registration code - leave that screen up.
- Log into your Stripe Dashboard and visit More > Terminal Readers or the URL https://dashboard.stripe.com/terminal. If you haven't yet set up a location for your theater, click on +New and enter your address. If your location has been previously added, click on the appropriate location for this reader.
- Click on + Register Reader, and enter the Registraton code listed on the reader. You can also give this reader a descriptive label to easily identify it.
- The reader may need to do further updates and reboot. These updates also may take some time.
- Review the cabling diagram before starting this section. Each step will describe the connections to make.
-
- Plug in the end of the cash drawer cable that is labelled “Printer” to the port on the back of the printer that is labelled “Cash Drawer/Buzzer”. Plug the other end into the cash drawer.
- Plug the printer power cord into the port that is labelled “DC 24V”, and into the wall
- Load any roll of paper into the printer to print a self test (you can use the test roll that came with it).
- After the printer is loaded with paper and closed, while holding down the paper feed button, power on the printer until the self test starts printing out. Make note of the IP address at the bottom of the self test sheet.
