Selling Gift Cards at the Box Office
To sell physical gift cards at the Box Office, you'll first need to have physical gift cards you plan to sell on-hand, pre-printed with unique gift card numbers, via your preferred physical gift card printer. You'll also need to have configured GiftUp! in your Filmbot settings in advance - only GiftUp! gift card sales are supported by this feature. Please note that GiftUp! will still charge their standard fees when activating gift cards using this feature. When having gift cards printed, we recommend following these guidelines:
- Use non-sequential codes, so they are not easily guessed
- Ensure that the codes you generate don't overlap with codes you previously used for other gift cards. Check any lists of previously printed codes you may have ordered in the past.
- Generate codes for physical gift cards one character longer than the number of characters GiftUp! is currently set up to generate for online sales (usually 5). This will ensure that your printed cards will not overlap with your automatically generated online codes.

Before selling gift cards at your iPad Box Office, go to Settings > Theater Setup > Gift Cards, enable "Enable selling physical gift cards in the Box Office app?" then click Save Changes.
Once enabled, add any common gift card values you'd link to sell to the "Preset gift card amounts in the Box Office app" field, separated by commas (such as 10, 25, 50, 75, 100) then click Save Changes again.
An additional "Gift Cards" option will be available after enabling the option in the web admin as above, then tapping Reset in the Box Office App. The Gift Cards option can be found in the menu on the upper-left hand side of the screen of the app, under Tickets and Concessions.
For a fixed-value gift card, select the value of the gift card you'd like to sell, then enter the custom gift card number printed on your gift card. (If your gift card was printed with a QR code or 1D barcode, you could also use an optional Bluetooth scanner such as the ScanAvenger SA9000 or the Netum E800 to more quickly enter the card number.) You can then check out as normal.
For a custom gift card, select Custom Amount, enter the amount of the Gift Card, enter the custom gift card number printed on your gift card, and you can then check out as normal.
You can sell multiple physical gift cards in a single transaction, and also sell the cards in the same transaction as tickets and/or concessions.
Once the sale is completed, the appropriate value will be loaded onto the gift card. You will have the opportunity to email or print the receipt for the gift card. Note: the email option will email the receipt, but not the gift card.
Gift Card sales from via the Box Office will immediately appear in Sales > Orders in the Filmbot admin.
You can find reports on gift cards sold in the Sales Summary and Sales Detail. Please note that these reports only reflect gift cards sold directly via the Box Office, and not through the embedded GiftUp! sales interface on your web site, or via the GiftUp! web site directly.
It is possible to refund a Gift Card via the Refund button in the Box Office, but refunding a gift card will need to be done to cash, and not to any other payment method. Once the gift card is selected for refund, the Balance Due on the order total will reflect the balance remaining on the gift card.
